Panic Attacks have you had any success with paper bag breathing?

 
This is something so many people have told me to do during a panic attack and it has never helped me. If anything, it makes it worse!

Have you felt this helped to calm you down or are you like me where it gave you the opposite effect?

I never used a bag, but I take slow, deep inhales and slow deliberate exhales focusing on my breathing and slowing down my racing heart. It always helps me calm down. I'm big on prayer too.

Not in to a bag, but I do use the method of taking controlled breathes to slow my heart rate as @Foxy describes. Great way of regaining control.
