That's a horrible way to treat someone! How do you expect someone to get better without help? That's what therapy is supposed to be for, that help. What a horrible therapist! That's just ridiculous that a professional could tell someone that, that's like admitting you cannot do your job!My experience with counselling is mixed.
As a teenager I had some CBT which I felt was helpful, it dragged me out of bed and got me functioning again anyway. But as an adult, the CBT I received has been less than useful. I actually was told by my therapist that I was too unwell for CBT and there was nothing she could do to help until I got better first. I am not sure how that is helpful. I found that therapist rude, obnoxious and difficult to work with, which is a major stumbling block when receiving therapy.
